About the institute

The Fraunhofer Institute for High Frequency Physics and Radar Techniques FHR develops concepts, methods and systems for electromagnetic sensor systems – particularly in the field of radar. This is done in close conjunction with novel signal processing methods and innovative technologies in the frequency range from VHF to lower Terahertz. The institute’s expertise – reinforced by highly sophisticated experimental systems that are developed and maintained in-house – covers almost every aspect of modern radar technology.

With its TIRA facility – a high power radar system for space observation – several anechoic chambers for measuring electromagnetic fields, extensive technology centres for analogue and digital printed circuit boards, and RF measurement capability up to Terahertz frequencies, the institute offers excellent possibilities not only for developing modern electromagnetic sensor systems, but also for training technical and scientific personnel.
